JOY IN THE JOURNEY IS MY HELPER | Psalm 121

Updated: Nov 16, 2022

I will raise my eyes to the mountains; From where will my help come?

I don’t know about you but I am high maintenance. How do I know that? All I have to do is look at my prayer requests and see this long list of needs. Yes, I said needs, not just desires, but genuine need. So where can I go but to the One who is able to do far and above all I could ever ask, think or consider. My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. Who leads me to the Rock that is higher than I.

Even though I know these things, I often find myself struggling with self reliance. The LORD, who created all things has declared certain truths about Himself, and His relationship with His children. Therefore, we who belong to Him can count it all joy when we are faced with trials, because He is our Helper. I have to admit that in order to count it all joy I must put joy in its proper place. Joy is not the circumstance we are in, it’s the position we hold in Him. As a believer my position in Christ is steadfast, unwavering. How can I say this? Because It’s not dependent on me, but on Christ who has promised to keep me from stumbling, and to present me faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God my Savior.

I will lift up my eyes to the hills-From whence comes my help? My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber or sleep. The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve you from evil; He shall preserve your soul. The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and forevermore. Psalm 121

Thank you Lord Jesus for being my Helper.
