JOY COMES IN THE MORNING

You will show me the path of life; In your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11

Would call yourself a morning person? I’m definitely a morning girl. I get up before daylight and have my quiet time with the Lord. I watch as the sun starts to peek through in golden yellow hues and kisses the leaves on the trees. The flowers open their arms in praise; the birds sing their morning songs and life begins anew.

What do you think of when you think of Joy? Is your joy based on your circumstances?

As a believer in Jesus Christ, I’m reminded that joy is not how I may be feeling about what is going on in my life. It is my inner state of being in the presence of the Lord, who is my constant. He reminds me that I am precious in His sight especially when things on the outside are anything but joyful.

Where do you go when your strength is gone, and your heart is desperate? Is your hope in this world? The wisest and richest man who ever lived was King Solomon. At the end of his life, and after testing out the things of this world; He concluded that all this world had to offer was vanity. It was useless because all the riches and comfort was only temporary. The fear of the LORD was the only thing that could bring joy and satisfaction to a hungry soul. You see, weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

You may be like Solomon testing everything the world has to offer; Looking to fill a God shaped hole in you heart that only leaves you empty. Jesus came to fill up that space. He took our sorrow and our shame, He replaces it with fullness of joy that never leaves us.

You (Jesus) have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.

Lord Jesus, thank you for the joy of knowing You and Your presence in my life that is all satisfying in peace, comfort, and rest. Amen

NKJV, Psl. 16:11, Eccl.2:26, Psl.30:5b, John 15:11, Acts 2:28
